AUDIO SECURITY CAMERAS
Having audio capabilities in your video surveillance system can be an important feature. Whether it is a one-way "listen in" feature or a two-way communication application, the use of audio can enhance the security coverage of your home or business with a greater ability to detect and interpret events.
Listen-In Audio
Security cameras with listen-in audio come with a built-in microphone that can hear and record audio.
Two-Way Talk
Two-way talk cameras also include a speaker that allows you to communicate to those within earshot of the camera.
No Cabling Required
There is no additional cabling required for wired audio security cameras - audio data is transfered using the same cable (ethernet or BNC) that transfers the video. Wi-Fi and wire-free security cameras also send audio data wirelessly alongside the video.
Mute Function
In most cases, the mute function will be enabled by default. By disabling mute, you will be able to record audio from the microphone of your security camera. To hear the audio, in either live mode or playback, you will typically need to full-screen the individual channel that your audio security camera is on. This applies for both NVR and app use.
Legality Issues
Using surveillance audio can be restricted or regulated depending on your location, so always verify with local authorities on how to properly use your audio cameras without breaking any privacy laws. Audio recording without consent is illegal in certain jurisdictions. Lorex Inc. assumes no liability for use of its products that does not conform with local laws.
Capture Sounds That Matter
Audio cameras don't always have to be about security. Sometimes it's nice to just capture the sounds around your house, just in case there is a hilarious, sweet, or once-in-a-lifetime moment.
