See The Difference, See The Details

Color Night Vision could end up being the difference you need. The darkness of night provides extra cover for intrusions and theft. If an incident should ever occur, CNV may provide you and the authorities with critical information such as the color of clothes or the color of a car.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Color Night Vision (CNV)?

Color Night Vision is a technology that enables security cameras to capture clear, full-color images in low-light conditions. This is in contrast to traditional secuirty camera night vision, which often produces black-and-white images.

How does CNV work?

CNV cameras utilize advanced image sensors and processing algorithms to capture and enhance light in low-light environments. This allows them to produce detailed, color images even when there's minimal ambient light.

What are the benefits of CNV?

  • Enhanced Evidence: CNV can provide crucial evidence in case of incidents by capturing clear, color footage of events.
  • Improved Identification: Color images make it easier to identify individuals, vehicles, or other objects.
  • Increased Deterrence: The ability to capture clear footage day or night can deter potential intruders.

Can CNV cameras work in complete darkness?

While CNV cameras are designed to perform well in low-light conditions, they still require some ambient light to capture images.  Without ambient light, all Lorex CNV cameras will revert to typical infrared night vision, so you will never be left in the dark.

How do CNV cameras compare to traditional night vision cameras?

Infrared night vision security cameras from Lorex use infrared LED lights to shine invisible infrared light on the scene in front of the camera. The camera sensor sees this infrared light reflected on the scenery, which allows it to construct a visible image for us to see, even in total darkness. With most infrared security cameras there is an automatic shift from full color to black and white video when lighting conditions drop at night. This is because infrared light does not fall within the color segment of the electromagnetic spectrum (this is also the reason why humans cannot see infrared light). Security cameras with Color Night Vision, however, contain especially powerful image sensors that are more sensitive to light. This allows the sensor to absorb more visible light, which allows the cameras to continue to provide color in low-light conditions.

Is CNV technology compatible with existing security systems?

It depends. Ultimately, CNV is not a factor if you’re looking to upgrade your current security cameras. The answer depends more on the camera’s compatibility with the Recorder. If the camera works with the Network Video Recorder or Digital Video Recorder, then CNV will work without issue.

Are there different types of CNV cameras?

Yes. Lorex has a wide selection of CNV Security Cameras, from Wi-Fi Security Cameras, to Wired IP Security Cameras and Analog Security Cameras, to Video Doorbells, to Battery-Operated Security Cameras.
